How Often Should You Service Your AC in Florida? (Plain English)

Central Florida runs its AC harder than almost anywhere in the country. Manufacturers design for 1,500–2,000 cooling hours per year. Florida systems easily hit 3,500.

Spring tune-up (March–May)

  • Coil cleaning (indoor and outdoor)
  • Refrigerant pressure check, leak inspection
  • Capacitor microfarad test
  • Contactor inspection
  • Condensate drain flush + biocide tablet
  • Filter replacement

Fall heating check (October–November)

  • Heat-mode operational test
  • Heat strip amperage check (electric heat)
  • Reversing valve operation (heat pumps)
  • Thermostat calibration
